Update from SALS and Discussion of Website Design Strategies
The Board welcomed Jack Scott from SALS to discuss website design and emerging technologies. Jack works with the SALS Niche Academy, an online learning platform that offers multimedia instruction for library trustees and employees. The Board plans to complete a website redesign for the Town of Horicon Library by January 1, 2025; and to meet Website Content Accessibility Guidelines by April 2027. Library websites will use WordPress and Polaris software. The goal is to create and operate an effective website featuring a carousel home page for the library, with weekly updates, plug-ins and widgets that focus on why people visit its website.
Director’s Report
Kawana will work with an artist to update the library’s logo and possibly the design of its website. She also mentioned the Citizens Preparedness Corps program in November.
New books arrive on Mondays. Kawana noted a predominant trend promoting children’s non-fiction.

For Halloween, Trunk or Treat will offer children candy in the Town parking lot. Greta will create a promotional flier.
The Certificate of Deposit has been renewed for a new term.
The year’s last order for books will be placed in November.
Donations to the library include a Brother printer and $500 from the golf tournament.
About 350 people attended the Town’s firework display.
The Library will sponsor a “Meet the Candidates” meeting on November 1 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Community Room. Joyce will donate cookies for the meeting.
