Director’s Report:
Lou Ann will be back to work next week. The budget is on target, despite higher prices for Mylar jackets and ink cartridges that have contributed to increased costs for materials and supplies.
Visitation numbers are rising with some new visitors. Numbers have dropped slightly for Dungeons & Dragons, likely because of school exams but should increase after the school year ends. Several visitors have praised the library’s ADK collection.
Attendance at Dungeons and Dragons meetings has been steady.
Food Truck Friday begins on Friday, July 5. Kawana has created themes for all FTF events. The NYS Summer Reading theme is “Adventure Begins in Your Library” and begins on July 11 with the first Dancing Turtle performance at 6 p.m., and will continue with programs on July 27 and August 17 at 1 p.m. This Summer’s theme is “Adventure Begins in Your Library.”
Old Business:
Culling books, primarily kids’ picture books, is underway. Kawana doesn’t need donations of non-fiction for 5 year-olds or donation of fiction for 3 year-olds. She is catching up on book orders overall and downloading minutes and two years’ worth of Treasurer’s Reports, which must be retained for 3 years.
Total expenditures are anticipated at $1,150.
The library can use $1,000 from the town as needed.
We received $650 from the Adirondack Foundation for children’s non-fiction books.
Kawana will purchase a new, cordless phone with money in the equipment fund.
Gabe Heilman will be working through the Warren Country Summer Youth Program at the library for up to 20 hours a week.
Pins on the doors have been replaced by hinges.
Joyce is donating $10 for paper.
New Business:
With reluctance, Joan has accepted Greta’s resignation from the Treasurer position and has accepted the Annual Financial Report. There was some discussion regarding the SPA Library Annual Financial report, with a decision to discuss it in January.
The Board discussed hosting Dan Smith for three talks at 7 p.m. in the Town Building with the following dates under consideration: 7/6, 8/1, 8/3, 8/29, 8/31. Possible topics include: Hiking Adventures, Even More Hiking Adventures, and Military Roads.
The Horicon Historical Society has requested a partnership with the library as a co-sponsor of the 115th Anniversary of the Adirondack Fire Towers and the 10th Anniversary of the ADK 102 Club. A June lecture is planned in Horicon.
Reading assignment: Library Board Meetings
Next Meeting Date: Monday, June 17
