Library Board of Trustees Minutes
April 15, 2024

Call to Order: Joan opened the meeting at 9:36.

Joyce is home recovering from surgery.

March Minutes: Greta made a motion to accept the minutes and Debra seconded. The motion carried.

Old Business: There was some discussion related to recurring HP transfers and other vouchers. Repair of the library’s front door have been authorized by Horicon Town Supervisor Mike Geraci.

Treasurer’s Report: Vouchers #2024-17 through #2024-25 were approved and signed.
Sylvie Hausvick made a $500 donation to support the purchase of nonfiction children’s books. Greta will call HP about the recurring charge, then go to the bank to sign a form to stop the automatic debits. Reports are uploaded on Thursdays at 3 p.m.

Director’s Report: Lou Ann will be back to work next week.
Attendance at Dungeons and Dragons meeting has been steady. Games are held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.
The budget is on target, despite higher prices for Mylar jackets and ink cartridges that have caused an increase in the cost of materials and supplies.
Visitors have praised the quality of the library’s DVD collection, Black History month display and related items, and have appreciated the care taken in making book selections.
The Friends of the Horicon Library are hosting an edible book festival on Sunday, April 17, from 12 – 2 p.m.
Erik Schlimmer’s program “Why is This Thing Called That” will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 6 p.m. in the Horicon Community Room. Craig Leggett will introduce Erik. Debra has offered to write press releases for submission to the Chronicle, Sun, Lake George Mirror, Adirondack Explorer and Adirondack Daily Enterprise.
This Summer’s Food Truck Friday will run from July 5 – August 30. The library’s theme will focus on Summer reading adventures.

New Business: Library Board members are required to undertake sexual harassment training. It does not count for the mandatory training requirement.
The accident reporting form and the request form for removal of objectionable materials were approved.

The Southern Adirondack Library System’s Annual Trustee Meeting will be held on Friday, May 20, at the Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center. Joan, Kawana, Deb and Sara plan to attend.
