Minutes 2022

AUGUST 15, 2022

A meeting of the Horicon Free Public Library was held on August 15, 2022, 9:30 am. President Joan Johnson called the meeting to order. Present were Ann Murphy, Patricia Tunney, Kawana Smith. Absent were Sandy Carpenter and Joyce Greenidge. Guest Bob Olson. Note: no meeting was held in July.
Joan made a motion to accept June minutes with the following corrections—Ann seconded.
Joan and Joyce said the town (not we) has many interesting resolutions to do. Ann noted that next year in Lake Placid the International University Games will be played.


Treasurer’s Report – Ann
Ann passed out the report showing a balance of $3,767.59.
Vouchers were approved – Numbers 86 through 109.
Joan made a motion to accept the report and Pat seconded.


Kawana Report
She passed out information for June and July. Reports showed increase in patrons for June
and a big increase in July. PC usage was also steady. In June two people signed up for library cards and four visitors stopped in. In July ten people signed up and sixty-three visitors stopped in. Kawana continues to receive good comments about the library from patrons.
Kawana stated she needs more money for supplies as prices increase. We will mark this for an item for the 2023 budget.The library received a check from SALS LLSA for $1,434.
As previously noted 13 children signed up for the sunflower planting, but only 4 were able to finish.


No date has been set for the painting and carpet cleaning of the library.
Air conditioning failed in the library a week ago on Monday. Library closed for a few days.
Spare room items moved to another building.
A new law for fire arms restrictions has gone into effect for libraries.
At September meeting we will go over reports from Ann and Kawana for budget 2023
knowledge. (Staff computer needed and we may only have 3 public computers from our usual 4.)
Ann gave notice that she will resign in December and will not be available to do the New York State report due early in 2023.
Ann made a motion to adjourn, Pat seconded.
